OUR HISTORY
SOARING WITH 2ND CHANCES was established in 2001 and is currently run by a mother and daughter, both working in the veterinary field. They see an unmet need and have opened their hearts to provide shelter, food, medical care, love and a 2nd chance to hundreds of stray, abandoned and abused cats in central Iowa. Their goal is to find stable, loving homes for these wonderful animals. To date they have helped find homes for over 500 cats! (Go to the Adoption page on this website) The need continues to grow.

OUR NAME
We are called SOARING With 2nd Chances, and use the balloon in our logo because of an initial fundraising event at which the proceeds from the sale of hot-air balloon rides were generously donated to support our efforts.

OUR MISSION
Our primary mission is to rescue, shelter and provide medical care for as many abused and/or stray cats as we are physically and financially able to care for. Our ultimate goal, and one we actively work to achieve, is to find each animal in our care a forever loving home they so deeply deserve.

We also provide educational information to those who adopt from us, as well as any other interested persons, about appropriate and responsible pet ownership (See the Q&A page on this site). We do all of this in hope of creating a greater awareness of the mistreatment and
abandonment problems that animals face in our society.

OUR FUNDING
Today, all of the care and services provided by Soaring With 2nd Chances is funded solely through donations*, adoption fees, and the sale of a few cat related items on this website.
We have no paid staff, only volunteers!
We also depend on the generosity of several local veterinary doctors who appreciate our efforts and often provide medical care for our cats at reduced fees.
